The three of us went to Bragg Creek for a hike of Telephone Loop today.
The night before had given us our first snow of the season, changing the scenery dramatically. We stopped at a pulloff to photograph the golden sunrise over a field of freshly fallen snow.
Telephone Loop presented us with a pleasant 16 km hike with 400 metres of elevation gain.
On the western portion of the loop, we passed by dozens and dozens of delicate feather marks in the snow left by bird wings. They continued on intermittently for hundreds of metres. Clearly not a single predation site, my guess is that these marks were left by a couple of whiskeyjacks (aka grey jay) playing with each other as they flapped and flittered down the trail.
