With the weather this good, David and I could not resist the temptation to return to the mountains on this Canada Day long weekend. We chose Loder Peak because it is relatively short and close to Calgary, both of which would keep me on track to be on time for work at 5 p.m..
The ridge is a steep grunt right from the get-go. It continues up some slabby portions to a diminutive little bump called Door Jam Mountain. From there, we scrambled over to Loder Peak for a fine view and a lunch break.
The descent was HOT...I wrung sweat from my bandanna twice. The early start was a good idea! I couldn't imagine ascending in that heat.
We soon got back to the car, and ate some fruit in the shade before a quick and easy drive back to Calgary.
