Mt. Aylmer is a beast of an outing. This peak is 3162 m high at the summit, and involves 1937 m of elevation gain. Also, there is an 8 km bike ride to get to the start of the hiking. Who better than my intrepid nephew to join me on such a big day?
Following the bike ride, we hiked up a long ridge, followed by a long gully. From this point, we could finally see the summit in view.
A traverse led us to a high col where a few hundred more metres of loose scree led us finally to the top.
