The larches had finally reached their prime and it was time to pick a hike that I knew would show them at their best. I had been in this area last year with Clayton, and as I was guiding Megan and Paulina today, this spot was sure to impress them just as it had impressed me a year earlier.
We started out on a frosty walk up the Burstall Pass Trail, past Burstall Lakes. We reached the hanging valley where golden larches abound in the sunshine. After a snack break, we hiked up a ridge to the west of the valley, opening up views of the Robertson Glacier.
We descended the ridge and continued up-valley to Piggy Plus Col. We enjoyed an extended break here and took lots of pictures.
The hike back was very enjoyable, concluding a great day out!
