Mt. Erickson was a rugged outing. This infrequently-travelled route sees only a few summit parties per year, according to the register at the top. I had quite a time even finding the trailhead, as it's unsigned and I was in a deep bank of morning fog.
Sections of dense bush along a cutline and cobbly terrain underfoot kept the going to only a moderate pace.
One standout feature was the most massive mine I have ever seen. Just to the west of Mt. Erickson this behemoth operation was a sight to behold - organized and efficient, but a little sad, too.
Although the scenery was varied, I found the overall trip more exhausting than enjoyable - I'm glad I went, but I won't be back to Mt. Erickson.
