While hiking by on a backpacking trip three years ago, David and I eyed a peak that looked doable. Un-named on maps, we decided to name it after us, since it would be our future objective together (humble, eh?). It was coined Mt. Deter.
Today presented the right conditions for a Mt. Deter attempt, and we gave it a go.
After leaving the trail where we were three years ago, we crossed a small creek and began bushwacking up a slope. Open hillside soon arrived, and we had no trouble navigating up the rubbly slopes to the summit.
On return, we extended our day and did a circular navigation of a lovely hanging valley. A great day on Mt. Deter!
