Clayton, Eric and Myself set out upon a journey that would take us up Isola Peak and Monad Peak.
This was a big day! It started with an ambitious ford of the Livingstone River, took us westward up logging roads, then up through trailless forest to Isola.
From there, we took a full descent down to the forest on the west side, hiked through some cut blocks, and came to a snow-choked forest with soft unsupportive snow. After post-holing for a bit, we ascended a steep gully at the top of which, Eric kick-stepped our path across a steep snow slope. We hiked then to the summit of Monad, before a long, circuitous return down logging roads. All said and done, we hiked 25 km and gained 1900 m of elevation in 11.5 hours.
The weather was amazing though, and the birds were chirping, so it really wasn't that bad.
