With the first dump of snow this season, scrambling objectives have taken a back seat to more conservative outings, such as Whiskey Hill. Although not worthy of a July outing, Whiskey Hill proved to be just right for a shoulder-season hike.
The drive to the trailhead required 4WD through deep wet snow. After gearing up, we followed a series of cutlines, trails and exploration roads to the summit of Whiskey Hill.
After getting turned around a bit on the descent and inadvertantly extending our day, we found our way back to the trailhead - satisfied with our front range summit of Whiskey Hill.
