On the first day of our Fernie trip, Megan and I hiked up Mt. Fernie.
The long drive from Calgary meant a late morning start on the trail in hot conditions. Despite this, we quite enjoyed it as most of the ascent was mercifully in the shade of mature forest.
Some steeper hiking and scrambling followed, leading us across several avalanche gullies.
The summit ridge had superb views of the surrounding mountains. We had lunch and headed back down to explore the townsite.
