We went for a walk in an urban conservation area today.
The Elbow Valley Constructed Wetland in southwest Calgary is a series of stormwater retention ponds along with pathways and interpretive panels that describe the function of these areas to the public.
Following the wetland, we passed a mountain bike skills area and proceeded down the hill to Griffith Woods - a natural environment park on the banks of the Elbow River. Here we saw much evidence of happy beavers living here.
The area proved to be worth the visit - I had driven past the sign so many times, and finally decided to check it out.
