I made a last minute decision on Friday night to go for a hike up Coyote Hills on Saturday morning. The weather (16 degrees and sunny) was not to be missed, and I was confident that I could go without snowshoes in the Front Ranges. The snowpack is down this year, and I got a rare hike on mostly bare ground in early March.
A mix of sun and clouds were swirling over the Continental Divide to the west, but the wind was calm and the temperature warm. I signed the summit register, and had a bite to eat. As I was finishing lunch, the wind started to kick up and it was good timing to work my way back down.
