On day one of our Castle Provincial Park trip, David and I faced generally poor weather, at least in terms of getting up a big peak. So we explored the area a bit upon arrival, as neither of us had been to the Castle area before. After setting up our camp, we went to Castle River Falls, an absolutely gorgeous place tucked away at the end of a gravel road to nowhere.
Nearby, the trail to Carbondale Fire Lookout beckoned us. We suited up and hiked up in the drizzle. Soon, foggy conditions prevailed which gave a calm and peaceful feeling to the afternoon.
After the hike, we acquired a bit more firewood to bulk up our stash, and headed back to camp to barbeque some mozza chicken burgers.
