David and I enjoyed a tranquil hike in the lush forests of Eagle Ridge today. Soon after starting out (near where photo #3 was taken), we came across a chubby little black bear eating dandelions. It took off when it heard us, before we could reach for our cameras. I hadn't seen a bear at all last year, and now we were two for two on the 2019 season.
Wildflowers abound on this path through the forest, with shooting star and clematis stealing the show.
Higher up, a chilly rain the night before came as snowfall and gave away the fact that a wolf had used the trail a few hours prior to us.
A picnic table greeted us at the summit, but was too snowy and wet to use. A mountain bluebird and its mate kept us company while we finished our lunch break.
Back at the trailhead, a group of dog walkers provided some comedy as three people and thirteen dogs piled out of one compact car...I think David and I perhaps had a more comfortable ride!
