I went for a quick solo outing today to the top of Ben's Hill - an eastern outlier of the popular Prairie Mountain.
The trailhead is inconspicuous and starts a couple of hundred meters to the east of Prairie Mountain trailhead, across two minor dry drainages. After hiking up the highway bank, orange flagging marks the start of a well-worn trail that persists all the way to the summit of Ben's Hill.
There is some interesting stonework at the top, with a firepit and stone pile in the middle.
Aside from one group of two hikers I saw on my way down, nobody else was on this lovely little trail. It seems Ben's Hill is a well-kept secret compared to the immense popularity of neighboring Prairie Mountain - there were 64 cars parked at the trailhead when I left!
