Welcome to skijoring - the sport where skiers and boarders get pulled along on a rope by a horse running at high speed and hit jumps to get big air. Sometimes they land it, sometimes they don't - but they really put on a show for the crowd!
This annual event in downtown Banff is in its fourth year, although this was our first time attending, as we were unaware of it before.
The crowd is encouraged to wear 'skijor style' with fur coats and western wear mixed with 1980's neon ski apparel. No real rules - but the funkier, the better.
Megan sported lots of fox fur and I had a neon vest and my bear suit to combine as "Safety Bear". The crowd enjoyed my tambourine antics - "Lets keep safety fun, everyone!".
The music and the crowd were energizing, and we are sure to attend again next year.
After the skijoring, there was a fun red carpet fashion show on Banff Avenue.
Then, we headed back to our our hotel for a soak in the pool and a bite to eat.
At 9 p.m., there was a skijoring after-party at Banff Avenue Brewing, where we enjoyed ourselves into the wee hours of the morning.
