Day two of my Icefields Parkway trip took me to Tangle Ridge. Part of the ascent was on familiar territory, owing to my hike to Beauty Lakes last year. Incidentally, it was then that I eyed both Nigel Peak and Tangle Ridge, putting them on my to-do list.
Tangle Ridge is more hike than scramble, but really packs a scenic punch. The ridge is broad and placid enough to let your attention and gaze wander. The view (my best yet) of elusive Mt. Alberta - the hardest climb in the Rockies - was a highlight. Mix in several other 11,00ers with their respective glaciers, add sunshine from the east, and you can imagine the view.
