David, Clayton and I went for an adventurous outing to Mt. Nomad today. The day begun with a long walk down a well-established trail next to Upper Kananaskis Lake. At a creek crossing where there is a cute little bridge, we left the trail and headed up an overgrown exploration road. Many wet bushes 'greeted' us here. Next, we ascended a forested ridge with much deadfall to clamber over.
Once on top of the ridge, we had to lose almost all of our gained elevation to access the valley that leads to Mt. Nomad. Then, of course, there was the final push to ascend Mt. Nomad itself. With all the elevation gain and loss, as well as the routefinding, this outing is a good workout!
The environs of Mt. Nomad were well worth it though, and a long and relaxing break by Invincible Lake was enjoyed by all.
