Three of us headed out today for a loop of my favorite hike - Cory Pass. Being my eighth time on this sweet loop, I thought photos might be pointless - but it's the weather that can make it a fresh trip each time, over and over.
Swirling clouds and a low ceiling made for interesting moody photos on the way up to the pass.
At Cory Pass, David had a nice surprise treat for the three of us...Joe Louis sandwiches (protected from obliteration by a sturdy yogurt container). He and Clayton were discussing these confections last week, as Clayton hadn't heard of them before.
We chatted with a guy from South Carolina at the pass, who was in total awe of the scenery around him...just goes to show that not all tourists just sit and point at bears from their car.
The descent from the pass led through my favorite section of the loop - Gargoyle Valley. Strange rock formations here give the impression of gargoyles guarding the valley below.
The return leg descended through damp forest, with a plethora of wildflowers doing their best to steal the show.
