Megan and I went for a bonus mid-week hike today to one of her favorite mountains - Yamnuska. Her first time going up this mountain was a few years ago, so she thought it was time to return.
Yamnuska is the first true rocky peak west of Calgary, along the TCH. There is a short section of exposure where you must tiptoe along some very narrow ledges, but there is a beefy chain bolted into the rock face for security.
From the summit, there are great views of the peaks to the west and the contrasting flat prairie to the east. The deep, loose scree run down the back side of the mountain is fine reward for those who make it up here.
