I snuck out for a Thursday hike the day before Motion Notion.
The oddly named Iyarhe Ipan makes for a short hike, but backs a punch in terms of both effort and scenery.
Effort because of a short section of snagly bushwacking (picture 2 - how many cobwebs do you think I broke with my face while walking through this?), a steep grade, and a deep, chilly ford of the Elbow River. I almost backed off from the ford (and did Prairie Mountain instead) when at first, I couldn't find a decent place to cross. But soon I found a place wide enough that the current was manageable.
Scenery because after you cross the river and ascend to the ridge, there is a fine view to the west while you walk along a dramatic spine of rock.
On the descent, the thick moss was very cushioning underfoot and provided an easy way down.
