I went for a delightful hike to Lesueur Ridge today. The drive was scenic and peaceful, and I even saw a great grey owl.
The trail itself is a nice 9 km loop, with lots of variation. First is a steep grunt up to the rolling ridge. From there, I had beautiful sunshine on a fresh dusting of snow from the day before. Fog hugged the lower elevations and made for very scenic conditions, with the snow-shrouded peaks behind.
Many deer kept me company, along with the songbirds. After the high point, the trail continues down a steep cutline toward Lesueur Creek. Just before the creek, the path veers east and traverses several open meadows above the creek.
I returned to the truck under cloudy skies, thankful that the early departure from home had bagged me the only bit of sunshine there would be today.
