This was quite an enjoyable scramble...bonus point for being a loop. Not a lollipop loop with the same return leg either - a true loop with no terrain repeated. I hiked the approach with another scrambler named Rod who was headed for Little Hector. After parting ways at Hector Pass, I continued up the south slopes of Mt. Andromache. I summited, despite some hesitations of steep snow slopes shortly before the top.
After a short rest, I was joined at the summit by another scrambler named Neil, who as it turns out, is involved in mountaineering.
I couldn't accurately assess the extent of the Molar Glacier which abuts the north ridge, because seasonal snow was still quite prevalent, covering the nature of the glacier. I was content to head back the same way I approached, but Neil took a look and explained to me that it wasn't as difficult as it appeared. He suggested that we could check it out, and back off if it didn't go. I agreed. I followed Neils' lead, and we crossed some magnificent terrrain on a wonderful descent of the north ridge of Mt. Andromache.
There was some increasing cloud cover in the afternoon, but the weather held and a fantastic day was had.
