A great day, but thunderstorms were forecast for the afternnon, so I got an extra early start on this one. I biked to Lost Horse backcountry campsite and stashed my biking gear in the woods. From there, the route involves some traversing across trail-less slopes to a major avalanche path. I used this path for ascent, and found some great hands-on scrambling higher up. A quick walk along the flattened summit leads to the cairn. Copper is not a big mountain in itself, but is surrounded by several peaks that are. Views were great, with many named peaks discernible. I used an alternate descent route which was a gully with loose scree that led down directly to the campsite where my bike was stashed. This gully was a speedy way down and bypassed the traverse that was necessary on the way in. I was about 7.5 hours back to the trailhead on this one.
