After finishing the Egypt Lake backpack in three days instead of four, I decided to spend another day in the mountains, since I had the time off from work anyway. A bonus hike was a good way to spend the day.
I restocked my food, ice and beer supply in Lake Louise. Then I set my sights on a quick, fitness-oriented ascent of Saddle Mountain. I timed myself at 58 minutes to the Saddleback and an hour and 17 minutes to the summit.
This is an easy little peak with grand views of all the giants nearby. Some lazy time at the top allowed me to catch my breath before having some overpriced havarti (it was really good though) and leftover naan bread from the backpack trip.
I descended the switchback trail down to the hoardes of tourists along the lakeshore before hightailing it back to the peace of Marble Canyon Campground.
