Clayton, his son Eric, Eric's friend Jim and Myself went to Opal Ridge today. Opal Ridge is so named because of opal deposits found in the area, although we only saw some fossils from the ocean floor that these rocks once were.
Once on the ridge, took a short break at the summit before extending our day farther south. We rambled across successively lower points to the southern terminus of Opal Ridge. Conditions were ideal for a nap. Once awake, we hiked north, back to the rock "gates" marking the point at which we left the ridge and descended to the trailhead.
