We went out to southern Kananaskis today for a hike that starts along the gravel Highway 532.
We initially followed a road south for a couple of kilometers, then headed east and north on a loop along ATV trails. Being shoulder season, we didn't encounter much all terrain traffic, thankfully.
We saw a few hunters and heard many gunshots. We also chatted with a rancher who was out searching for the last of his cattle to bring them in to pasture for the winter. He said that the recent logging in the area has caused the cows to wander over a larger area and higher up the slopes than before, making the end of season roundup more difficult.
The multi-use nature of this area makes it an interesting spot to hike in, and I'm sure we'll be back to explore other trails in the area.
