Clayton, my nephew David and Myself headed up Observation Peak today. Since he moved here from Newfoundland just a couple of weeks ago, this was Davids first mountain summit.
I had this peak in mind for a while now, and drove to the trailhead last October to give it a try, but was turned back by snowy weather and no views. This peak is best saved for a nice day when the full grandeur of the neighboring glaciers and icefields can be appreciated.
We enjoyed the hands on scrambling that we found near the cliff bands, and the highlight was a lengthy summit stay while we snacked and identified many other peaks.
Congratulations on your first peak, David!
