On the drive to the trailhead at about 5:40 a.m., I spotted a fox with a bird in its mouth heading back to its den. Two birds were hassling it, trying to get it to give up its catch, but the fox was determined and didn't give in.
Clayton and I ascended Sentinel Peak and neighboring Hailstone Butte today. We had lovely warm weather and sunshine the whole day.
Near the summit of Sentinel Peak, we came across the tiniest bighorn sheep I've ever seen - couldn't have been more than a week old, and was sticking very close to its mothers side.
We had a nice lunch at Hailstone Butte and met the fire lookout attendant and his friendly dog. It was a lovely loop hike in a lesser-visited area of Kananaskis.
