The theme for the ice carvings this year was "Freeze - Olympic Fever". The ten sports-themed carvings were very impressive, with the snowboarder being my favorite. Initially, there was an ice column for support under his bum, but that was removed late in the day before judging, and definitely upped the "risk factor" which contributed to points awarded.
The diver won first place, the figure skaters won second place, and the skier won third place. The nighttime shots provide a different perspective and at midnight, you don't have to jostle with the crowds to get in position for a photo.
