Cobalt Lake is located in Bugaboo Provincial Park, in eastern British Columbia. There are unusually dramatic granitic peaks here called the Bugaboo Spires. The rock quality is so good and the faces so sheer, that elite mountaineers come here from the world over.
Our sights were set a little more modest than that, but it's for the best because this was a truly beautiful hike. The approach to Cobalt Lake was a stunning ridgewalk with spires, glaciers and wildflowers all vying for attention - not to mention the azure waters of Cobalt Lake below, framed by Cobalt Spire and Northpost Spire.
