After a snow dump that left side streets crippled in the city, I knew deep powdery snow was awaiting in the foothills.
Megan's car had no hope of getting her to work, so I drove her instead and took the opportunity of an early morning to go for a snowshoe.
I arrived at the trailhead just before dawn and noted the -22 Celsius temperature. Whoa...gonna have to keep moving to stay warm on this one!
After perusing some interesting structures in the Provincial Parks maintenance lot, I forged on upstream along Ranger Creek.

Breaking trail was arduous due to the deep, unsupportive powder. But man, this IS what snowshoeing is at its best.
After a quick lunch in a meadow, I followed my trail back to my vehicle.
