Konrad and I went up to the Icefields Parkway for a snowshoe this morning. I hadn't been to this area for a snowshoe in ten years, so a visit was overdue.
Sunshine and blue skies prevailed. A crust had set up a few inches below the surface, giving us ideal conditions to go a little farther than if it was deep powder.
Within an hour, the warm temperatures had us down to base shirt layer and enjoying a random wander through this pristine terrain. We could see the snow surface studded with 'diamonds' for 100 meters in front of us.
Bow Meadows may be a long drive from Calgary (230 km), but in my experience (3 times), it's completely worth it!
