David and I went on a smoky hike up Armor Peak today. We passed remnants of an old test mine high on a slope above treeline. This 35 meter-deep tunnel was an unusual site, especially this high up.
Past the mine, we encountered a couple of low cliffbands that provided fun scrambling.
A little further along, we crested the long ridge that leads to the summit. This was an interesting walk that had a Mars-like feel to it because of the rusty colored stone and the lack of view below - where one would normally see verdant forest and rushing rivers.
The final approach to the summit had more fun scrambling along the ridgecrest, followed by a dramatic view of Bulwark Peak to the north.
The buttplug in the summit register was unexpected and quite hilarious, but we did hit the cinnamon fireball before descending back to the trailhead.
