On day six I arose to fresh blue skies following an evening of rainshowers. Mt. Redoubt was rated the toughest scramble on my itinerary, and I wasn't sure of my summit chances, but decided to give it a go. I could always retreat it it wasn't to my liking or ability.
A short way along the approach, I met a fellow named Dave Jones who, as it turned out, is a mountaineering guidebook author with decades of experience. Following my suggestion, he was more than happy to join up for both of our first attempts at this mountain. The company certainly added to my confidence. Mt. Redoubt revealed itself as a challenging scramble with attention and care due in several spots along the ascent, but no hair-raising exposure. Within a few hours, I was exalted to be on the top - my sixth summit in six days! It was among my most enjoyable ascents, and I would certainly return to this peak in the future.
