My nephew Andrew and his partner Brad were in town for my wedding. Along with Andrew's brother David, the four of us headed out to the mountains to make the most of our rare time together.
It was great to get out with these guys and experience some fresh mountain air and grand scenery. I was feeling ready and prepared for the big day on Sunday.
The connecting ridge between Grizzly and Highwood Ridge was a bit spicier than I was expecting. Not wanting to get injured the day before my wedding and having two first-time scramblers along, I was a touch cautious along the ridge. I remember thinking once or twice that we were firmly in helmet terrain - without helmets. We were all cautious not to send loose rocks down however, and the four of us enjoyed some fantastic scenery while we scrambled along the ridge.
After lunch at the summit of Highwood Ridge, we dropped down the east side, directly toward the trailhead. Routefinding here was easy and we were back to the vehicle in short order - with some fine memories in tow.
