Rod and I headed out on this one as a weather bail from Nigel Peak, as Cauldron can still be tackled in the rain while Nigel is one that is best saved for a fine day.
As it turned out, it rained for about 10 minutes at the summit, but other than that, there was a combination of fog, swirling clouds and moments of blue sky that made for interesting visuals.
Rod and I agreed that the chilling ford over a creek I've called "Peyto Creek" (no name on the map) was the crux of the trip. In order to approach Cauldron Peak, this braided stream with a good pace going to it must be crossed...twice if you want to return to your vehichle at days' end.
