I had the pleasure of guiding Megan, Paulina, Karolina and Nicole on a hike to Arethusa Cirque today.
We had a frosty start at first light at the trailhead. The route ascends quickly and before you know it, you are up into some beautiful sub-alpine terrain for very little effort.
We hiked off the trail, a bit deeper into the bowl. We had a lunch break here and a brown weasel joined us for 15 minutes or more, hunting for pika in the bouldery terrain. He was sure cute we all commented - that is until he finds some prey and has a face full of rodent blood! Oh well, a weasel has got to be a weasel.
Good conversation was had along the return trip, and soon we were back at the trailhead - on to Fahr Brewery for a beer at their picnic tables!
