My neighbor Konrad and I headed out to Tiara Peak today.
The approach is along an unmaintained route, which lends a feeling of remoteness to this front-range peak.
Once we groveled our way up to the ridge, we had lovely scenery off both of our shoulders as we approached the summit block.
We traversed under cliffs along the east face, and found a reasonable way up once we circled around to the west side. The summit was cool and breezy, so we didn't stay long at the top.
We used an alternate descent to loop our way back to the main trail in the forest below. We stopped for lunch on a plateau overlooking a rugged gully (thanks for the hard iced-tea, Konrad), before continuing back to the gravel access road.
