On day two of my Jasper trip, I headed up Old Fort Point trail in the morning to get a nice view of the town of Jasper. Through my binoculars, I spied a schwanky lodge across the valley. It was the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, and as I hadn't been down that road before, I went to check it out.
Rooms start at $570 per night, so it's just as well that I was already set up in my $28 per night campground.
From there, I drove down Maligne Lake Road and hiked Bald Hills. This is a popular hike, and I spoke with several energetic and happy hikers along the way.
An intense thundershower plowed through on my drive back to Pocahontas Campground, but my tent was dry inside, so all was well.
