This area of the mountains typically has an early spring because it is situated in the broad Rocky Mountain Trench, which is at a relatively low elevation compared to the main ranges.
We enjoyed a nice walk to the Hoodoos - wind-formed featues in the crumbly conglomerate soils of the Dutch Creek area. The ground was dry, allowing us to have a nice nap under a tree in the 15 degree C weather.
