High wind warnings steered us away from our initial objective, so today, David, Clayton and I headed for Bishop Ridge. This hike would keep us out of the wind - but a price would be paid in other aspects. Crossing the Highwood River followed by five other creek crossings ( x2 for the return trip) meant lots of practice crossing creeks.
The worst part of this trip was the 3+ km of alder bushwacking to reach the base of Bishop Ridge from Loomis Lake trail. That's 6 km of bushwacking total, and when it rains as it did today, well, be prepared to get really wet.
Once free of the bush, however, this area is beautifully scenic - almost makes you forget what you went through...until you have to go through it again on the way out. I have no photos of this, as I was in "head down and go" mode.
Either way, we got yellow larches, solitude and wildlife, so no complaints.
