It's always exciting to officially kick off the Super Saturday season. Today's hike was totally off trail with routefinding and map-reading the whole way, making for a fine adventure.
We crossed many wire fences, a couple of creeks and passed through mature fir forests.
We had lunch at the top and Red Rover, Blue Boy and Green Guy even got together for a Covid-safe selfie!
After a nap in the sun, we followed the ridge back down, but then took a more southerly course that I thought would be a more direct return. It was not - but it was thoroughly enjoyable anyway, as it led us through one huge verdant meadow after another. Everything is so green this time of year before the leaves get bug-chewn and sun-scorched. We passed by a large bull who thankfully didn't seem to care, and then on to more rolling ranchland to conclude this very scenic of hikes.
